A tea that can replace your normal cuppa. Firstly, this tea came packaged well. I have taken as many pictures as i could of the unpacking process to show how much care they have taken into providing a product that will not be touched from the outside and will be as fresh as when it was picked. It comes nicely packaged and in my opinion would make a good gift. The tea was sealed tightly in black packaging and there was also a brown bag provided. There were no instructions in the box which would have been nice so i didn’t really know what to do with it. When i opened the black packaging i assumed it would then all fit into the brown bag and i could seal it to avoid the air hitting it but it didn’t all fit in so i was a bit confused there. The tea had a beautiful aroma when opened. It smelt fresh and untouched. I have a loose tea pot which i am finding new teas to try in and this was one of them.

Best tasting darjeeling ever. I’ve tried a number of darjeelings but this one has been my all time favourite. This is an afternoon tea that can also kick start your morning.

Growing up the only tea i ever drank was either instant tea from some horrible powder that has to be horrible for you, or old dried tea in a bag that didn’t even really taste much like tea even after you brewed it longer than the recommended time. As an adult i only use organic and natural products so when i decided to give tea another try i wanted good, quality, organic tea. Now that i’ve tried this wonderful organic darjeeling tea, there’s no way i’ll ever go back to the teas i used to drink a long time ago. It tastes so good, and i know it’s good because it’s from a trusted, reputable tea company that’s been around longer than i have. I’m am in no way connected to the company however product was received free of charge and this is my personal honest review. Thanks for taking time to read this review. Beautiful and delicate, a bit like myself. I’m in the process of rediscovering my inner tea-jenny. The tea comes vacuum packed in a foil sleeve, but also includes a resealable pouch, into which you can decant the tea once opened – ideal for keeping it fresh. If you share your life with a tea-lover, then they will thank you for introducing this tea to your cupboard. Mrs p is sadly quite satisfied with a cup of the local builder’s blend, so i’m left to enjoy the finer flavours by myself. Anyway, she insists on putting milk in tea, which, lets be honest, is just plain wrong, so it’s probably best this isn’t wasted on herwhen you first open the pack, the delicate woody aroma of the darjeeling hits you. Because it’s been vacuum packed, the aroma seems to just burst out of the packet. A teaspoon of tea in a brew basket in my mug, with some off-boiling water brought this to life. The massive leaves unfurled beautifully, leaving me with an almost glowing cup of rich golds, yellows and browns. Putting milk in this would be a sin.

Light tasty tea but could of kept original packaging for novice tea tasters. . I had by accident tasted white tea before when visiting india regularly and seeing that a similar type of tea is available on amazon, i decided to buy this one. It is a little pricey but seeing clearly that you are getting it from the source without the middleman and any purchases made will help the ignored but well dedicated tea farmers this is possibly the best that you will ever get. This white tea is quite rich and light with a little tangy aftertaste. They recommend it is best drank without milk but you could add a little sugar to make it more sweeter. This feels a bit like green tea but with more flavour. This is a must of anyone who is quite adventurous for tea drinking. The only downside is that vahdam usually would have light brown packaging with simple clear instructions on the best method to brew their teas, but in my experience, they changed it to the green eco-friendly one. This new tea packaging help protect the tea more until opened but there was no instructions on how best to brew white tea. I had to go on the amazon website to obtain the simple instructions that were missing from the original packaging.

      1. It’s always wonderful to drink tea that has been produced with so much care. Anybody who’s new or yet to enjoy the flavour and benefit of white tea are in for a special treat. Unlike green teas, (which i do enjoy) white tea has a unique subtlety and character all of its own with none of the ‘grassy’ taste i find in green leaves. Light and refreshing i prefer this with nothing added and finding it best after a good 10 minute steep. (also being careful to use hot not boiling water) just relax and enjoy this perfect cup of tea.

Delicious, silky texture, very thoughtfully packaged. The makers pride themselves on freshness, it certainly meets that claim, freshness can be tasted in every sip. I look forward to discovering if there are any health benefits. If not, then i would keep it for special occasions, visitors etc.

      1. I was delighted with this tea. A lovely darjeeling, most refreshing, with its high quality coming out in every single brew. Sweet tea with floral notes and the famous muscatel overtones. Deserves to be drunk out of one’s best porcelain and shared with the discerning only. A very, very good tea from a great tea garden. Darjeeling is often classed as an “afternoon” tea, but okayati muscatel is great drunk mid-morning and fine for the evening. I would most certainly not advocate messing around with milk, sugar or lemon (continental style) with this tea. It has a distinct character of its own, so any additions would only ruin its exotic charm.

    1. What a gorgeous earthy yet refreshing drink. I’ve had a few blends from golden tips ranging from herbal to chai tea. I’m a major tea drinker but loose tea has a certain class and quality to the process of drinking it. I use a tea filter for this and steep for around 4 to 5 minutes. I do use a splash of milk with my darjeeling with no sweetners but that’s personal preference. The aroma is of a gorgeous earthy fragrance that fills the room when your tea is brewing and the taste is light but earthy and definitely refreshing. This is certified tea and being loose means you are getting the best of the plant rather than dust found into teabags. The colour is a deep amber when brewed. I like that it is packaged in a foil lined pouch that self seals to optimise freshness with every cup. I believe this pouch makes around 40 cups. My other half only enjoys regular teabags so that’s more for me which is a bonus. And the pouch is time stamped so you know how fresh it really is.

  7. Nice but less so if you insist on milk and sweetener. You can’t beat a good cuppa, and this, like all the other golden tips teas i have tried over the last few weeks is a good cuppa – i normally have milk and a sweetener in my tea – i know that will upset the tea cognoscenti out there – sorry but there are enough like me out there to not care. This one though screams to leave out the milk and sugar/sweetener – try it if you don’t believe methe re-sealable bags are great – and are actually nice to just open and grab a sniff of an excellent smell – they appear to be just paper, but they are lined inside to keep everything fresh and dry. You can do your best eric and ernie impressions by sniffing and announcing the month it was picked which is also on the label, though i have no idea how long it can be kept for, but that isn’t a problem as i doubt it will last long as it makes a fine cup of tea. I usually use a teapot with a central infuser/strainer which works really well with all but the smallest bits of leaves, no mess and no tea strainer required, just lift out the infuser when you reckon things are at the right colour and pour. I also use one of these ‘balls on a stick infusers’ to make the odd single cup or if i am honest mug of tea. You can probably tell i am not a tea geek, i just like a good brew, and this makes a fine one. I got this at a generous discount in return for this review – which i thank you for reading.

  9. This leaf tea is typical of a second flush darjeeling bold and full bodied. This arrived very quickly from amazon, in a branded box with a lovely bit of information about the company. Inside there was a vacuum packed bag of tea. This is a storage pouch for the tea and has a zip lock to make it last fresher for longer. The instructions are on the outside of the box, they say to use 1 teaspoon of tea put into boiling water, brew for 3-5 minutes although i found that it was about 5 minutes before it was of a suitable flavour for my taste. I tried black and with milk as i drink tea both ways depending upon my mood and found it is equally tasty each way. I prefer darjeeling tea served with milk, i know that it isn’t supposed to be but with this being a 2nd flush summer pick its not so bad is it, anyway that’s the way i like it so there. This leaf tea is typical of a second flush darjeeling bold and full bodied a little stronger than you may expect from a darjeeling if you are used to a first flush but i really like it, there’s more depth to it. If you like darjeeling its definately worth trying out the spring (first) , summer (second) and autumn picking as they start milder and get more and more full bodied. You can then choose your perfect onei received the 100g and it will last about 40 ish cups i have stored it in a sealed jar and it has a really long best before date so it will last ages. The one i received was best before 2018 so a full 2 years. There is very little of what i usually refer to as residue or sawdust in this particular variety/brand it really is all leaves as shown in the image. Disclaimer : i love testing and reviewing products, i often get asked to review products by different companies because as a family we genuinely try the products products carefully and we consider both the pros and cons of the product considering the description, price and effectiveness. This is our honest opinion on this product.

      1. This tea arrived promptly and was very nicely packaged. This tea has a long expiry date (over two years left on mine), and origin details, picking dates, and brewing instructions are included on the packaging. This is a 100g bag of tea that will produce roughly 30 standard tea cups. The tea leaves are intact and there is very little powder which is one of the main things i look for. Brewing method is a matter of taste, but i use a small metal teapot with an infuser. I warm the pot first, then deposit two teaspoons of tea, fill with water to just above the level of the tea leaves, and allow to infuse for about five to seven minutes. This particular variety is single estate and organic with a slightly woody taste. I am a bit of a peasant and use a splash of milk in mine. This is a very smooth tasting tea and i am very pleased with it and will be buying again from this supplier.

  11. This review is from : Organic Silver Needle White Tea Leaves from Darjeeling (25 Cups), White Tea Loose Leaf Organic Sourced Direct from High Elevation Estates in the Himalayas, 1.76oz

Nice but misdescribed darjeeling. Not as lush as some 2nd flush teas, but pleasant. Better on the nose than on the palate. Moderate ‘muscatel’ flavour. What is annoying is that vahdam/golden tips can’t get their descriptions to match the tea you actually receive. This is my second purchase from them where the description is different from the tea they ship. If they can’t get the description right, how can one be assured of their accuracy in other ways, eg is this actually an organic tea, was it all picked on the date given or a blend of different teas, etc. Ultimately, it’s the taste of the tea that matters, but sellers should at least get their descriptions correct.
