Bloom Teas London BLOOM Absolute Matcha, Fabulous pure green tea.

I’m a big matcha fan and the bloom matcha is fantastic. I really like that they’ve blended lots of flavours into their matcha’s (not this one but the others). It makes their products really individual. This absolute matcha is very clean and pure and makes a fantastic matcha lattei’m also a big fan of the little spoon that it comes with – a heaped spoonful is the perfect portion for me. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone keen to try and alternative caffeine fix.

I drink green tea every day and have done for many years. I have a number of serious health issues and so can tell you that i do not find green tea a cure all. I drink it because i enjoy the taste and i do not like ordinary black tea at all. So i looked forward to this matcha, it is pleasant to drink but really i am hoping for the precious anti-oxidants to have a real and noticeable effect on my health. Meanwhile i think drinking this adds to my list of palatable drinks, and i drink each cup really hoping it will bring an upturn in my health. I am being honest because i am getting weary of all the miraculous cures or otherwise crazy claims made for superfoods. I eat a ton of blueberries for example, and can detect no help for my health, but i eat them because i like them and also because you have to try, and who knows i might turn a corner if i keep adding in the best foods i can afford. If i think this matcha has a positive effect i will come back and say, meanwhile i drink it because i like it.

BLOOM Absolute Matcha (30g)

An interesting opportuni-tea. Green tea has been imbibed for centuries in japan, both in ceremonial contexts and for itspurported health-giving properties. The nhs uk website includes an interesting article(‘green tea : the elixir of life or just hype?’) which gives a balanced view about the possiblebenefits of drinking matcha regularly based on available research. It’s worth taking time to read. I’ve tried this particular product for the purpose of a review five times; whisking the prescribed amountinto hot (but not boiling) water. It has a curiously creamy texture and looks a little bit like pond weedin the bowl due to its vivid green colour. It tastes a tad bitter in a new-mown grass kind-of way. Maybe my senses are playing tricks on me but i experienced a very slightlyfishy smell and taste going on in the background. I’d be interested if any other reviewers did too?if you’re a believer you’ll doubtless love it.

Great pre-work out energy booster. I’ve tried matcha from other sellers but this one is by far the nicest one i’ve had. The cheaper brands matcha tends to taste very bitter and is hardly palatable. Bloom uses the finest organic ‘ceremonial’ grade matcha and you can certainly taste the difference. It’s nice and smooth with an earthy flavour. I normally i drink it as a shot whisked with a small amount of hot water, or add it to fresh juices, or lately i’ve been mixing it with my porridge. Since i started drinking it my skin complexion has definitely improved. It also gives you a nice energy boost when you need it without the caffeine jitters. Perfect pre- workout drink, takes your workout to the next level. Now want to try other flavours too.

Great quality – would purchase again. I’ve had this for around 2 months now and there is still quite a bit left – bearing in mind i drink this every other day using one scoop. The spatula that comes with it is really helpful, and you only need the smallest amount.

BLOOM Absolute Matcha (30g) : As a long term “traditional” green tea drinker, i was not convinced about matcha. Having persevered and tried a few different brands, this was the one that converted me. A really smooth green tea, much like a good quality dragonwell leaf green tea – very refreshing and uplifting. Really nice in the afternoon and where i used to find making it a bit of a pain, i’m now beginning to enjoy the pause it builds in to the day to day busyness.

Really small container and quite pricey. Will look for cheaper alternatives with less fancy packaging.
      1. I love the flavour of green tea so this was perfect. I love the flavour of green tea so this was perfect. Tasted natural and not artificial like a lot of the other matcha powders out there. Tried to make with milk to make a matcha latte and it was so lovely when you whisk it to create froth, perfect for winter.

    1. Although the health benefits are apparently astounding and it’s supposed to taste fresher than normal green tea. It just tastes like an extra strong green tea to me. Followed instructions exactly and no amount of whisking made a frothy top. Taste overall strong, but not disgusting. Can’t see myself having it daily though.

    1. There’s been a lot of buzz about matcha lately. Not only does it theoretically have health-giving properties, but it seems to feature in an ever-increasing variety of supermarket and restaurant products – from matcha lattes to matcha green tea cakes. This was my first experience with matcha when it wasn’t mixed into a cake or a latte, and i was very excited to try it. I found it a very unusual drink. The instructions on the jar recommend that a cup is made up by whisking half a teaspoon of the matcha poweder into 100ml of hot water. I dutifully did this, and the first thing that hit me was how incredibly green the matcha itself was – a rich, vibrant colour like fress grass. It smelled, however, like an algae covered swamp. A taste test revealed that matcha, when not disguised by masses of whole milk, or cake batter, has a vegetable-like flavour. It’s not unpleasant, but to an uncultivated palate it’s not exactly pleasant either.

  6. A little of this delicious green stuff will go a long way. It might seem like a small package when it arrives, but when served sparingly with the included spatula, you’ll make a fair few tasty drinks (you only need a little for quite a strong taste). The addition of the serving spatula is a great way to prevent yourself from using too much – don’t even go near it with a teaspooni’ve mainly used this to make straight-down-the-line hot green tea drinks, which have a yummy herbal taste, along with all the added benefits green tea is meant to bring. But i’ve experimented a little with milky drinks, too – it’s definitely worth giving a matcha latte a try, as the powder adds something quite special to the taste. Small, but long-lasting, the price seems good considering the quality of the product (it’s labelled premium-grade, and it certainly is). An ace way to get green tea into your diet.

I’ve been oblivious to the matcha zeitgeist, i was just offered some tea to try and couldn’t turn that down. As a committed runner with various health problems who is always on the look out for a shot of health and energy in liquid form, i guess that’s my bad. For all the beneficial claims to investigate and discuss, taste comes first and this key box gets the big tick. Pleasantly organic and palatable. The idea of adding ‘tea’ to porridge seemed somewhat alien. Well, not only does it work, it makes the porridge a lot tastier. The rest of the world, apparently. And it’s a similar story all over the board.

    1. Excellent quality, especially for the price. . I first came across bloom over a year ago, when researching different brands of matcha for a piece i wanted to write. I was particularly interested in high grade ceremonial drinking matcha and i tried several different brands. I found the bloom one to be far better than i expected given its price point – excellent quality for the price. I also tried some of their flavoured ones, the mojito being my favourite, but it’s this straight matcha one that i drink most often.

    1. This is at the higher end pricewise for matcha but i think it is the best i’ve had mainly down to the reduced bitterness when compared to other brands. A green, not bitter and basic flavour, a bit like spinach but i like it. I will definitely be getting this one again.

  11. This has a clean, natural and plain matcha taste in the gree tea latte i like making. The scoop fits in the jar after being removed from the label, and the jar is small and tidy.
